1015 Overview of Green Architecture 
A look at the issues that need to be addressed by design aiming towards achieving sustainability in the built environment.
Speaker: Duncan Baker-Brown is a Chartered Architect & Lectures in Sustainable Design. The practice he co-founded in 1994, BBM Sustainable Design, pursues an ethos of environmentally benign design.

A reflective look at the good and bad points of the architects own house, built in 2003/04.

A simple vegetarian / vegan soup & bread lunch will be available for £2.00 per head.
1400 Earthship Brighton
This building is the first of its type in England and the largest in Europe. These innovative structures are largely built from recycled materials including car tyres. This talk will look at Earthship design principles, lessons learned from the build and possibilities for the future of Earthships in the UK & Europe.

Speaker: Taus Larsen is an architecture diploma student. He is a member of the design team of the Brighton Earthship & is a director of Low Carbon Network. He has been involved in the construction of Earthships in USA & Scotland.

Local Progress Towards Greener Buildings
Brighton and Hove City Council has made considerable advances in this direction, both in terms of public and private buildings through the planning process.

Speaker: Francesca Iliffe, is the Sustainability Officer in the Planning Department of Brighton & Hove City Council, with a remit to mainstream sustainability through the council and city. She is currently working to ensure sustainability criteria are met by developers on the King Alfred Centre and Brighton Station sites amongst others. Prior to working for the council she worked as a carpenter on various projects including several Segal timber framed buildings in London.
